Skill Reinforcement
What is Skill Reinforcement?
When students have completed a reading intervention program they can still need support in skills such as fluency, comprehension, and writing.
Skill reinforcement is meant to fill this need. Now that phonemic awareness and phonics skills have been strengthened its time to start shifting the focus to fluency, comprehension, and writing. All of these area’s help to reinforce the skills your child learned during their intensive reading intervention program and gives them the opportunity to practice those skills in ways that they would use them in the world around them.
Time Commitment
Since skill reinforcement sessions are not therapeutic they only require a one hour session, two days a week.
How it works:
Focus on Putting Learned Skills Into Action
These sessions are about helping your child to use the skills that they have learned during dyslexia therapy sessions. We will shift our focus to building fluency and helping students strengthen area’s that are specific to their needs.
