Doing dyslexia together with students and their families.

About Tiffany Flanders

I am a Certified Academic Language Specialist (CALT) which required me to do 200 hours of course contact hours in a therapy level training program, complete 700 hours teaching students with evidence-based therapeutic methods, under the supervision of a QI (Qualified Instructor), complete 10 lessons with students under observation by the QI, and successfully pass the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) Competency Exam.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education Studies, and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction.

I have been working with struggling readers for 16 years and I have been working exclusively with dyslexic readers for 6 of those 16 years.

For each student I work with I create customized, individualized programs tailored to meet their specific and unique needs.

In addition to conducting therapeutic sessions for dyslexic students, I also do dyslexia screenings and informal assessments to provide insight into specific areas of reading that students may struggle most with. These assessments can be taken to an educational diagnostician and used in the diagnostic process for dyslexia.

My husband and I have five beautiful girls, three energetic female dogs, a boy bunny, and a very quiet and unobtrusive boy ball python. We live in beautiful northern Colorado and love doing all things with our girls, human and furry!

1-1 Online Dyslexia Therapy Sessions

Students with dyslexia need structured, systematic, multi-sensory, explicit, and individualized instruction. As a dyslexia therapist I use a therapy program called Take Flight developed by the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Texas . While this curriculum serves as the base of our sessions, I will customize each session to your students individual needs.

Due to the therapeutic nature of Take Flight, for it be effective, Families will need to commit to three one hour sessions per week.

All sessions are online to provide parents with a convenient way to ensure that their students can receive the therapy without location being an issue. Plus, it is one less place that you have to drive during the week!

My Services

2 Days/week Skill Reinforcement Sessions

If your child has completed a dyslexia therapy program or an Orton Gillingham program with a certified instructor and you just want them to have an opportunity to practice and reinforce their skills we can tailor their sessions to specific areas where they may need more practice or have some gaps that may need to be filled.

These sessions are also offered online and occur two days a week for 1 hour.

Homeschool Evaluations

If you homeschool a dyslexic child you know that their learning is very unique to them. Each evaluation that I do is intended to highlight the beautiful, out of the box ways that your child learns. These evaluations meet the Colorado Department of Education requirements for an evaluation of academic progress.

IEP Support

When you have a child in the public school system and they require the extra support that an IEP provides, the process can be overwhelming and confusing. In an effort to help you navigate this process I offer support to parents through IEP meeting preparation and attendance.

Dyslexia Screener

Does your child struggle to read, even after instruction at school or through you in a homeschool program? It could be dyslexia at the root of the hardships and frustrations in reading.

A dyslexia screener is a set of small tasks in three specific areas of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency. This screener can highlight areas in the students reading that could indicate they are dealing with dyslexia. With the results from this screener I can recommend further evaluations be done by an Educational Diagnostician, so that you can get an official diagnosis to use for an IEP at school, or peace of mind and answers for your family if you homeschool.
